KIDS HOPE AUS.

KIDS HOPE AUS. is a program of Word Vision to partner churches with their local primary schools. This program partners mentors from a church with children within the primary school who would benefit from having a one-on-one relationship with an adult who is committed solely to them.

The Mullum Mullum Anglican Parish - Ringwood has formed such a partnership with Mullum Primary School in Ringwood. This program has been successfully operating now for a number of years. We at present have eight mentors visiting students.

The mentors meet with their student for one hour each week of the school year. During this time, they talk, play games, do some schoolwork set by the teacher, and have fun. The aim of the hour is to encourage and affirm the child, developing a trusting relationship and improving their self-esteem.

This program not only brings benefits to the children. To hear the mentors speak of the joy and satisfaction they receive from this time with the children is a testament to the brilliance of such a program.

The prerequisites for mentors are that they are willing to commit to spending one hour every week with a child, and that they pass screening and background checks. Training and ongoing support is provided for mentors.

Please contact Wendy Capper if you would like more information.

KIDS HOPE AUS. builds caring relationships . . . one child, one hour, one church, one school.
